DAX Index Expansion Announced

Increased to 40 Members

Effective September 2021

Effective September 2021, the benchmark index DAX will be expanded by ten members to a total of 40. The DAX 40 will represent the 40 largest and most liquid companies listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The index is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the German stock market and is widely used by investors and analysts to track the performance of the German economy.

The expansion of the DAX is part of a broader effort by Deutsche Börse, the operator of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, to modernize and enhance its index offerings. The new DAX 40 will be more diversified and representative of the German economy than the previous DAX 30. The inclusion of ten new companies will also increase the index's liquidity and make it more attractive to investors.

The new DAX 40 will be based on the same calculation methodology as the DAX 30. The index will be calculated in real time and will be published every 15 seconds. The index will be composed of the 40 largest companies by market capitalization on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The companies will be weighted by their free float market capitalization.
